Mattisson Organic Guar Bean Fiber Sunfiber® is derived from the endosperm of the guar plant in India. The Latin name for the guar plant is Cyamopsis tetragonoloba. Guar beans are a rich source of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber is also called prebiotics. Prebiotics reach the large intestine undigested, where bacteria ferment them into short-chain fatty acids (acetate, butyrate, and propionate). These fatty acids serve as an energy source for the intestinal epithelium, among other things.
