Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring protein in the body that has the property of binding to and transporting iron. We ingest a large amount of lactoferrin after birth thanks to drinking breast milk. Although our body also produces lactoferrin itself, factors such as processed food and stress can negatively affect lactoferrin reserves.The body is capable of producing lactoferrin to a limited extent. We can stimulate this production by exercising on an empty stomach, preferably strength training involving the arms. However, the Western diet contains a lot of processed food. Due to this diet and (chronic) exposure to stress and toxins, the lactoferrin reserve can be negatively affected.
