Blood glucose: Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood sugar levels.

Macronutrients: Chromium contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients.

General information:
As an essential trace element, chromium is important to your body. This means that you do not need much of it but it is important to get it through your diet or a dietary supplement. Chromium is a building block of the molecule Glucose Tolerance Factor. GTF affects the action of insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. Chromium has been scientifically proven to contribute to normal blood sugar levels. EFSA recommends a daily intake of 40 mcg. Dietary sources of chromium include shellfish, whole grain cereals, meat and spices. Foods loaded with simple sugars (industrial foods) activate the body to excrete chromium.
