Application of Voltaren Pleister 140 mg:
Voltaren patch 140 mg diclofenac sodiumVoltaren patches are pain relievers. They belong to a group of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
What is this medicine used for
Voltaren Plaster is used for local symptomatic short-term treatment (max. 7 days) of pain in acute strains, sprains or bruises of the arms and legs due to blunt injuries in adolescents from 16 years of age and adults.
Composition of Voltaren Pleister 140 mg:
Each patch contains:Diclofenac als 140 mg diclofenacnatrium.
Ingredients of Voltaren Pleister 140 mg:
Diclofenac sodium, backing: polyester non-woven fabric, adhesive layer: polyacrylate suspension, tributyl citrate, butylhydroxyanisole, protective layer: mono silicone coated paper.Usage of Voltaren Pleister 140 mg:
Dosage:The recommended dosage is 1 patch per day.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
If you are unsure about the correct use, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Method of administration
For use on the skin (cutaneous use).
Instructions for use:
1. Cut the sachet along the dotted line and remove the plaster.
Putting on the plaster:
2. Remove 1 of the 2 protective films.
3. Place the plaster on the area to be treated and remove the other protective film.
4. Gently press the patch with the palm of your hand until the patch sticks completely to the skin.
Removing the plaster:
5. Wet the plaster with water. Loosen one edge of the plaster and gently peel it away from the skin.
6. Remove any residue from the plaster by washing the treated area with water while gently rubbing the area with your fingers in a circular motion.
If necessary, the plaster can be held in place with a net bandage.
Use the patch only on healthy, undamaged skin.
Do not use the plaster together with an airtight (occlusive) dressing.
Do not wear the patch while bathing or showering.
Do not cut the plaster.
Usage time
Do not use this medicine for more than 7 days.
If you need to use this medication for more than 7 days, or if your symptoms worsen, contact your doctor.
Do not use in case of:
- You are allergic to diclofenac or any of the other ingredients in this medication. You can find these ingredients in the package leaflet.
- You are allergic to another medicine from the NSAID group (for example acetylsalicylic acid or ibuprofen).
- You have ever had an asthma attack, hives or swelling and irritation in the nose after taking acetylsalicylic acid or another NSAID.
- You have an active gastric or duodenal ulcer.
Your skin is damaged (e.g., by a scrape, cut, or burn), you have a skin infection or inflammation (exudative dermatitis). Or you suffer from eczema.
- You are in the last 3 months of your pregnancy.
- You are a child or you are under 16 years of age.
Extra caution when:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine:
• if you have or have had bronchial asthma or allergies. This may cause spasms in the muscles of your bronchi (bronchospasm), making breathing difficult.
• if you get a rash after applying the patch. If this happens, remove the patch immediately and stop treatment.
• if you have kidney, heart, or liver problems. Or if you have previously had a stomach or intestinal ulcer or inflammatory bowel disease. Or if you bleed easily.
Use the lowest possible dose that works in the shortest possible time.
Important measures
• The patch must not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes and must not be placed there.
• Elderly patients should use this medication with extra caution. They are more likely to experience side effects.
Warning:
Taking with other medicine:
- If you are taking, have recently taken, or might soon take any other medications in addition to Voltaren patches, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
When used correctly, only a small amount of diclofenac is absorbed into the body. Therefore, the effect of oral medications containing diclofenac is very minimal.
- Do not use Voltaren patch at the same time as other medicines containing diclofenac or any other NSAID.
It makes no difference whether you use these medications on the outside of your body or take them by mouth.
Pregnancy:
Do not use this medicine during the last three months of pregnancy. There is still a small risk of problems for the mother or baby (see the section "When should you not use this medicine?").
- Are you in the first 3 or first 6 months of your pregnancy or are you trying to conceive?
Only use this medication after consulting your doctor. If you require treatment during this period, use the lowest dose for the shortest possible time.
- Forms of diclofenac that you take by mouth can cause side effects in your unborn baby.
It is not known whether Voltaren patch carries the same risk when used on the skin.
Breastfeeding
- A small amount of diclofenac passes into breast milk.
Are you breastfeeding? Talk to your doctor before using this medication. Never apply the patch directly to your breast area while breastfeeding. Please read information leaflet before use
