Dietary supplement with natural microorganismsL-Reuteri contains 5 billion colony-forming units of the natural microorganism strain Lactobacillus reuteri LA13210® per daily recommended intake of 2 capsules.
The acacia fiber powder it contains serves as an important food source for lactic acid bacteria.
Lactobacilli belong to the genus lactic acid bacteria. As the name suggests, they produce lactic acid in the intestine by fermenting carbohydrates and thereby create an acidic environment by lowering the pH value. An acidic environment is ideal for the intestinal friendly bacteria.
Lactobacillus reuteri is one of the first and most important bacteria that colonizes the human intestine shortly after birth.
As a rule, L. reuteri is administered via breast milk. However, research shows that the amount of beneficial bacterial strains in breast milk is decreasing worldwide. Researchers assume that L. reuteri only occurs in the intestines of 10 to 20 percent of all people.
Modern diets are believed to be the main cause of these alarming results. Preservatives that kill food germs and thus significantly extend shelf life also seem to attack good bacteria in the intestines. To make matters worse, fewer and fewer people regularly consume fermented products such as yogurt, sauerkraut or sourdough pasta.
