Erythritol is a natural sweetener that occurs naturally in some mushrooms, fruits (including watermelon, grapes, and pears), and fermented foods such as wine, cheese, and soy sauce. Erythritol is the only natural polyol and is produced through natural fermentation, having approximately 70% of the sweetness of regular sugar. Erythritol is an ideal substitute for cane sugar, beet sugar, or other sweeteners. It adds a delicious sweet taste to smoothies, yogurt, snacks, drinks, ice cream, and other dishes and desserts.It contains no calories; it is absorbed only in the small intestine and excreted via the urinary tract, and as a result, the calories from erythritol are not absorbed. Erythritol does not affect blood sugar levels and is therefore a good alternative for diabetics.
