Glutathione (GSH) exists in three forms: S-acetyl-glutathione, reduced glutathione, and glutathione disulfide (oxidized form). Glutathione is difficult to absorb. Therefore, the S-acetyl-glutathione form is best used to increase glutathione levels. Alpha-lipoic acid is a sulfur-containing fatty acid that occurs naturally in the human body. Alpha-lipoic acid is a molecule found in the mitochondria of every cell.Our bodies produce small amounts of R-alpha-lipoic acid. In addition, the natural, endogenous R-form of alpha-lipoic acid is found in small amounts in foods, such as liver, spinach, and broccoli.
Glutathione is the body's most important antioxidant. However, the body's own glutathione production can be reduced for various reasons, such as stress, a poor diet, medications, intense exercise, and aging. Supporting glutathione production in the body is desirable in such situations.
Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative damage and has a positive effect on the immune system. It also benefits sperm quality and male fertility, is essential for thyroid hormone production, and supports the thyroid gland. It also keeps your hair strong and is good for your nails.
