History Solgar
Solgar's history began in Manhattan, New York in 1947. Pharmacists Nat Colby and Mike Goldfarb, together with holistic physician Carl Zoll, started the Solgar Vitamin & Herb company from their shared passion for the preventive effect of natural supplements.
The first Solgar product was sold in a pharmacy in Manhattan; Naturvite, a powdered multi-vitamin. After three years, Colby goes on alone and meets Allen Skolnick, a young biochemist. Together they continue the company with their own philosophy and working method, based on science, innovation, quality and integrity. The company started in 1947 with one employee and one product, nowadays the range has grown into an international company with more than 300 Solgar products.
Over the years, Solgar Vitamins has continued to adhere to the founders' philosophy and is known for high-quality nutritional supplements.
Properties of Solgar food supplements
Solgar believes it is important that their products do not trigger allergic reactions. That is why they are committed to keeping allergens out of the products. Most of the Solgar products are free from sugar, dairy, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, preservatives and synthetic colors and flavors. The labels indicate whether the product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, is free from genetically modified soy and whether it is kosher or halal.
The dark glass of the packaging is also characteristic. Dark glass was chosen because it allows virtually no light or air to pass through, which prevents oxidation.
