Caprylic acid is a saturated fatty acid with eight carbon atoms and thus belongs to the medium-chain fatty acids.Caprylic acid in the form of calcium and magnesium caprylate is a powder that breaks down into free caprylic acid and calcium and magnesium ions after ingestion.
This acid is considered safe by the FDA and has been labeled GRAS (generally recognized as safe).
It is produced in small quantities by the body itself and is also found in small quantities in food sources, including coconut (coconut oil), palm oil, hemp oil, breast milk, dairy products, and butter.
