Stool blood, a potential indicator of various gastrointestinal disorders, can be difficult to detect due to its subtle symptoms. Visual examination alone may fall short, making the identification of blood in the stool essential for revealing underlying gastrointestinal problems.Regular screening for occult blood in stool is recommended, especially from the age of 45, for early detection. Poly-Check, an immunological rapid test specific for detecting hemoglobin in stool, distinguishes itself by eliminating the need for dietary restrictions common with guaiac tests. Poly-Check recognizes that polyps can bleed intermittently and advocates for a three-day consecutive stool collection, thereby increasing the likelihood of detecting intermittent bleeding and obtaining more reliable information for patient safety.
Usage of Swiss Point of Care Zelftest Poly-Check:
Sample collection (first, second, and third day):1. Wash your hands every day and collect the droppings on a separate paper strip.
2. Dip the tip of the bottle into the feces and avoid using too much for accurate results.
3. Close the bottle tightly, shake it to suspend the sample, and store it in the refrigerator.
4. Throw the paper strip away in the toilet.
Realization test (after 3-day collection period):
1. Tear open the sachet, remove the device, and let the bottle reach room temperature.
2. Break the purple end and place the device on a flat surface.
3. Add exactly five drops of the extract to the sample well.
4. Read the result after 10 minutes and avoid interpretation after 15 minutes.
