Wat is Carnaubawas?Carnauba wax is extracted from the leaves of the carnauba palm (Copernicia prunifera), a tropical tree native to northeastern Brazil. This natural wax is known as the "queen of waxes" because it is the hardest plant wax known, even harder than concrete. The carnauba palm produces this protective wax layer during the dry season to protect itself from dehydration and intense heat. Local communities sustainably harvest the leaves: they are dried and beaten to release the wax flakes, which are then cleaned. Our carnauba wax is 100% organic and sustainably harvested.
Carnauba Wax vs. Beeswax: Which Should You Choose?
The main difference lies in the melting point. Carnauba wax only melts at 82-86°C, making it perfect for products that need to retain their shape in warm conditions, such as lip balm. Beeswax melts at 62-64°C and is softer and more flexible. Carnauba wax is 100% plant-based and virtually odorless, ideal for vegans and if you want to add your own fragrances. Beeswax has a characteristic honey scent and is not suitable for vegans.
Carnauba wax gives the skin a light sheen that absorbs quickly and doesn't clog pores, making it suitable for oilier skin. Beeswax has a slightly heavier feel. Choose carnauba wax for summer products, vegan recipes, and oilier skin. Choose beeswax for soft balms and if you enjoy the honey scent.

Esters (85%) provide the hard structure that keeps carnauba wax products firm, even in hot temperatures. They blend perfectly with oils, allowing you to create stable personal care products that don't separate.
Free fatty alcohols (13%) give Carnauba Wax its smooth, glossy finish and allow products to glide smoothly over the skin without a heavy feeling.
This unique composition allows carnauba wax to oxidize very slowly, ensuring your homemade products last for years. The wax forms a thin, breathable protective layer that retains moisture, allowing your skin to breathe while minimizing moisture loss.
Usage of Chi Carnauba Was Biologisch:
Carnauba wax has a high melting point, so melting takes longer. Heat the wax in a double boiler until completely melted (10-15 minutes). Then, while still warm, add your other ingredients, mix well, and pour into jars. Let it cool slowly at room temperature; cooling too quickly can cause graininess.
