Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and is known as the sunshine vitamin. It supports the immune system, contributes to normal muscle function, and is involved in cell division. It also aids in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which are important for maintaining strong bones and teeth.Our body can produce D3 when our skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D3 is also found in small amounts in foods, such as oily fish (salmon, mackerel, anchovies) and in mushrooms (D2) that have been exposed to light. A supplement can be a valuable way to support your vitamin D3 intake.
Why is vitamin D supplementation important?
In the Netherlands, the sun is only strong enough to provide the skin with sufficient radiation for part of the year. As a result, natural production is often limited, and many people need to get extra vitamin D3 from other sources, such as a vitamin D supplement.
Vitamine K2:
Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, is an important nutrient that supports various processes in the body. There are two different forms of vitamin K: vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. Vitamin K1 is mainly found in leafy greens like spinach, endive, and kale. Vitamin K2 is found in small amounts in animal products such as dairy, eggs, meat, and fermented foods like natto (a Japanese soybean preparation).

Vitamin D comes in two different forms: ergocalciferol (D2) from plant sources and cholecalciferol (D3) from animal sources. Vitamin D3 is identical to the vitamin our bodies produce when exposed to sunlight. This form is therefore the most natural and easily absorbed by our bodies.

Vitamin K2 in the active form MK-7
Vitamin K2 comes in several forms, designated MK-4 through MK-14. For our Vitamin D3 & K2 softgels, we choose exclusively menaquinone-7 (MK-7). This form of vitamin K2 is the most stable and best absorbed. While vitamin K1 remains active in the body for only one to two hours, vitamin K2 MK-7 has a half-life of over 72 hours. This means this biologically active form has sufficient time to reach blood vessels, bones, and other tissues in the body.
MCT oil as a carrier for the best absorption of Vitamin D and K
Vitamins D3 and K2 are fat-soluble vitamins and are therefore better absorbed when dissolved in oil. In our softgels, we use MCT oil as a carrier. This light, stable oil is easily digestible and ensures fast and efficient absorption of the vitamins.

Each softgel contains:Vitamine D3 (cholecalciferol) 25 mcg
Vitamin K2 (MenaQ7®, menaquinone-7 K2) 40 mcg

Use of Vitakruid Vitamine D3 & K2:
Take 1-3 capsules per day, unless otherwise advised by a health professional.Preferably take with your evening meal with plenty of water.
