Tantum diclofenac 1% gel is specifically designed for rubbing into the skin. The active ingredient, diclofenac, belongs to a group of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).What is this medicine used for
Tantum diclofenac 1% gel is used for the local relief of mild to moderate
joint pain caused by worsening of osteoarthritis of the knee or fingers.
The pain relief from Tantum diclofenac 1% gel builds up gradually during the first week of treatment.
Do not use in
• You have ever had an allergic reaction to diclofenac, or other medicines used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid (a medicine also used to prevent blood clotting). If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to these medicines may include: attacks of shortness of breath caused by muscle cramps and swelling of the lining of the airways often accompanied by coughing and producing mucus (asthma), wheezing or shortness of breath, skin rash with severe itching and raised lumps, swollen face or tongue, runny nose.
• You are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
• During the third trimester of your pregnancy
Ingredients of Tantum Diclofenac 1% Gel :
Active ingredient: Diclofenac sodiumExcipients: sodium hydroxide, hydroxyethylcellulose, carbomer 980, propylene glycol, triglycerides, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), purified water.
Usage of Tantum Diclofenac 1% Gel :
Adults: Apply this medicine to the area of the knee or hand that is painful 4 times a day.How to use:
Gently rub a small amount of this remedy onto the skin where you are experiencing pain. The amount needed will vary depending on the size of the painful area. Typically, an amount about the size of a cherry to a walnut will be sufficient. You may notice a slight cooling effect as you rub the gel in.
Wash your hands after using this product, unless of course your hands were the area being treated.
How long should you use this medicine?
- Do not use this medicine for more than 3 weeks.
Pain relief gradually builds up during the first week of treatment. If your pain doesn't improve within 7 days, or if it worsens, consult your doctor. Please read information leaflet before use
