Algivon contains alginate fibers, which enable a continuous slow release of honey while maintaining the integrity of the dressing. Algivon is particularly suitable for wetter wounds because the alginate has a low moisture absorption capacity, preventing the honey from disappearing with the exudate (wound fluid). Algivon is very soft and pliable, making it highly suitable for sinuses. The dressing is also absorbent, making it beneficial for wetter wounds because the honey remains on the wound bed within the dressing for longer.Composition of Advancis Veterinary Algivon Manuka Honing Alginaatverband 10 x 10 cm:
Alginate dressing impregnated with 100% Manuka Honey.Usage of Advancis Veterinary Algivon Manuka Honing Alginaatverband 10 x 10 cm:
Apply Algivon to the wound bed. The dressings can be placed side by side to cover large wound surfaces or cut to size with sharp scissors. Depending on the wound bed and the amount of exudate, the secondary dressing can be a wound film or a dressing.Indications *:
Algivon can be applied to any wound but is particularly suitable for: ulcers, surgical wounds, burns, graft sites, and infected wounds.
Contraindications *:
Although honey is not absorbed into the bloodstream, we advise monitoring glucose levels in diabetic patients. Some discomfort may occur when applying the honey. This depends on the sensitivity of the wound and can be remedied with the appropriate level of analgesia. The initial discomfort generally subsides on its own. If the discomfort persists, the application of honey should be discontinued and the wound subsequently rinsed with a saline solution.
