Within this fiber group, there are two types: soluble (prebiotics) and insoluble. The agave inulin in this product is a soluble fiber, while the psyllium husk is an insoluble fiber.
Wat is Agave Inuline?
Agave Tequilana (also called the "blue agave") is an agave with blue-gray leaves. The "blue" agave cactus grows at an altitude of 1,500 meters in Mexico. It takes 6-7 years for the plant to mature and be harvested. Agave inulin is virtually tasteless and colorless and gives food a creamy texture.
These soluble fibers (prebiotics) reach the large intestine undigested, where bacteria ferment them into short-chain fatty acids (acetate, butyrate, and propionate). These fatty acids serve as an energy source for the intestinal epithelium, among other things. Fermentable fibers include fibers from vegetables, fruit, potatoes, legumes, and, of course, the inulin in this product.
Wat is Psyllium?
Psyllium (psyllium) is made up of the seed husks of plant seeds and is over 80% fiber. Psyllium fiber, like oatmeal and whole grains, is an insoluble and non-fermentable fiber: it is not absorbed by the body but does contribute to digestion. Psyllium supports natural bowel movements* and contributes to a feeling of fullness*.
