This ascorbate complex is gentle on the stomach and intestines and is kind to the teeth, unlike the acidic ascorbate form (Ascorbic acid). Another advantage of ascorbate is that our body requires less of it to optimize Vitamin C absorption, and it prevents the loss of minerals at higher doses.Buffered Vitamin C means that the Vitamin C is available in a more neutral form so that the body does not become acidic upon ingestion. Ascorbic acid can have the disadvantage of irritating the gastrointestinal tract and potentially causing diarrhea.
