Due to its unique, balanced composition, TYROLER STEINÖL is attributed exceptional and versatile natural and medicinal properties. It formed from fossil deposits of the primeval sea, the "Tethys Ocean," and was pushed up to an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level in the Bächental (Karwendel, Achensee in Tyrol) during the formation of the Alps. The fatty substance found in the oil-bearing slate – with an oil content of 4-6% – originates from plants, prehistoric fish, mussels, and other marine animals (ammonites).
