Application of Vitakruid MCT Olie C8:
MCTs (Medium Chain Triglycerides) are medium-chain fatty acids that our bodies convert directly into energy. Unlike longer chains, they are absorbed at the beginning of the digestive tract. This minimizes the liver's effort to metabolize the fatty acids. Furthermore, our bodies rarely store MCTs as fat.There are four types of MCT: C6, C8, C10, and C12. MCT type C8 is the best form of MCT. C8 is considered the most efficient fatty acid due to its length and ease of digestion into energy. While saturated fatty acids used to be considered negative, MCT oil is now considered a healthy saturated fatty acid.
Vitakruid's MCT oil is extracted from non-GMO coconuts and sourced from Southeast Asia and South America. The oil is cold-pressed, so it doesn't need to be hydrogenated. This is a chemical process that changes the consistency of the fat. This process hardens the oil, or soft fat, and can produce trans fatty acids. Vitakruid MCT Oil C8 is therefore 100% trans fat-free!
MCT fatty acids are mainly found in coconut oil and palm oil. Although MCTs are found in both forms, there are differences. Palm oil has been embraced by the food industry as an inexpensive ingredient in all kinds of processed products. Even cheaper MCT oils sometimes contain a blend of these two types of oil. Our MCT oil is based exclusively on coconut oil.
Sustainability is a top priority in product development. Vitakruid MCT Oil C8 is 100% derived from sustainable coconut oil (Witarix®). This vegan product is not only kosher and halal certified, but also Ecocert-approved. Immediately after the first cold pressing, the MCT oil is packaged in glass, the only packaging material considered safe by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Glass packaging also protects the oil from external influences that cause oxidation. This is why oil is often packaged in a slightly darker (glass) bottle to minimize its exposure to light and oxygen.
