Iodine is a regulating substance for the thyroid and it contributes to normal production of thyroid hormone. The thyroid plays a key role in the body’s metabolism. Many processes in the body are controlled by the thyroid, including energy metabolism, the heart and vascular system and the nervous system.
Tyronyl contains iodine from kelp. Kelp is a type of seaweed that is rich in iodine. Another important component is selenium. Selenium also contributes to normal functioning of the thyroid. Iodine and selenium work together and in terms of thyroid metabolism, cannot function without one another.
Important synergists in Tyronyl are zinc and niacin (vitamin B3). Niacin supports both energy metabolism and the nervous system. For this product, only the flush-free variety of niacin is used. That is because, in some people, ordinary niacin can cause a warm, red and itchy skin. This reaction is harmless, but many people dislike the flush.
