Western diets primarily contain vitamin K1, which is found in plants (particularly green tea, algae, and green vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, parsley, and cabbage varieties). Consequently, we obtain sufficient amounts of this form of vitamin K through our diet. Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, on the other hand, is produced by bacteria and is found in very small quantities in dairy, meat, and eggs.
