Take 1 capsule daily during or immediately after a meal. When using less than 100 mg of glutathione per day, there is a significant risk that an excessive percentage of glutathione will be broken down by proteases in the intestine. One way to avoid the proteases is to dissolve the contents of one or more capsules in water, stir well, and then drink the solution. Research shows that direct contact of glutathione with the oral mucosa has a beneficial effect on absorption. When taking the glutathione capsules in the normal way at doses of 100 mg to 200 mg per day, more than 60% of the glutathione is already absorbed. The surprisingly high bioavailability appears to be associated with the discovery of a specific absorption system for glutathione in the intestinal wall. However, the rate of absorption does not increase proportionally with the dosage. At higher dosages, the efficiency of absorption decreases.
