Pectin is a fiber found in the cell walls of plants and fruits. This natural fiber provides structure and strength to the plant cell wall.Through a purification process, an improved form of pectin can be obtained from citrus peel: Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP). This is a biologically active substance with several beneficial properties.
Different methods for manufacturing MCP produce varying results in terms of purity and molecular size. This affects absorption and effectiveness.
Until recently, pectin was primarily purified from the peel of various citrus fruits using ethanol or isopropanol. This processing method makes pectin's molecular size less consistent.
By applying a new, innovative and natural processing method with enzymes, pectin from the peel of lemons in particular can be made suitable for use in supplements.
From the pulp of specially selected lemons, pectin with a precisely controlled molecular size is purified using an enzymatic process. The molecular size of the citrus pectin obtained through this process is so small that it can be easily absorbed into the bloodstream. This allows pectin to exert its systemic effects. Furthermore, the molecule is precisely sized to possess binding properties. This also allows it to form complexes with other molecules, each with unique properties of its own.
