The green-lipped mussel owes its name to the light green rim along the outside of the shell. The mussel is found exclusively in the New Zealand waters of Marlborough Sounds, where the shellfish can thrive in pristine nature. The green-rimmed mollusk naturally contains a high concentration of essential fatty acids and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). GAGs are long sugar chains found throughout the body, primarily in cartilage, joint fluid, and the skin.In addition to green-lipped mussel, the patented Ovomet® also plays a leading role in this formula. This eggshell membrane naturally contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, chondroitin, keratin, lysozyme, and more than 500 proteins. Green-lipped mussel extract & Ovomet® also contains vitamin C, which is important for the formation of collagen, which is essential for bones. Furthermore, vitamin C plays a role in the production of cartilage.
