Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is a mushroom native to the forests of China and Japan, where it grows on deciduous trees. The name “Shiitake” refers to the Japanese Pasania tree (“shii”), on which the mushroom grows naturally. The mushroom has a light to dark brown cap and is known for its characteristic, spicy flavor, which is often described as umami.Worldwide, alongside the button mushroom, shiitake is one of the most cultivated and consumed edible mushrooms. Today, it is grown in many parts of the world and used in various cuisines.
Mycopower BIO Shiitake is a vegetarian and gluten-free food supplement.
The extract is produced from Shiitake mushroom powder using a natural extraction method, in which the polysaccharide content is standardized. Shiitake contains, among others, polysaccharides, including the polysaccharide lentinan characteristic of this mushroom.
