Calcium plays an important role in bone and muscle growth and contributes to many vital functions of our bodies. As women age or enter menopause, supplemental calcium can be helpful in maintaining strong bones.
However, calcium alone is not enough!
Research has shown that only small amounts of calcium, but also significant amounts of silicon compounds, are needed to maintain a healthy bone system, among other things.
Silicon interacts with other compounds to form the so-called silicates, substances that are essential for strong and supple connective tissue.
Since connective tissue is found in hair, nails, teeth, bones, skin, muscles, cartilage, veins, etc., these silicates are of great importance in giving shape and strength to our body.
Vegetal Silica is derived from an aqueous extract of Spring Horsetail (also called Purple Loosestrife or Field Horsetail).
Horsetail naturally contains high levels of silicates and is excellent as a nutritional supplement.
The horsetail used in Vegetal Silica is harvested in the spring because that is when the plant contains the most silicon with bioflavonoids.
It is not recommended to use dried powder of the whole plant.
Horsetail contains the enzyme thiaminase, which breaks down vitamin B1 in the body.
That's why we use a special aqueous extraction method (developed by C. Louis Kervran) for Vegetal Silica, which ensures that thiaminase is no longer present in the final product.
