This product contains iron in the form of iron bisglycinate. Each iron particle is strongly bound (chelated) to two (bis) molecules of the amino acid glycine. The general term for such a compound is amino acid chelate or amino acid chelated mineral. The word "chelate" comes from the Greek and means "claw."This compound was chosen because it is gentle on the stomach (which is not the case with most iron compounds) and because of its exceptionally good bioavailability. The formula is also supplemented with Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid to further promote iron absorption. Usage of Vitals IJzer 25 mg:
