The Ginkgo biloba, or Japanese nut tree, originates from Central China. Extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves has a beneficial effect on our health in various ways. In traditional Chinese medicine, ginkgo leaf has been used for over 5,000 years to support health.The active ingredients in ginkgo leaf include flavonoids (flavone glycosides), bilobalides, and ginkgolides (terpene lactones). The active ingredients of plants are mostly located within the cells. However, plant cells are surrounded by tough, indigestible cell walls (made of cellulose). This makes it necessary to extract the active ingredients from the plant through extraction to make them more readily available to the human body. Therefore, an herbal preparation containing the whole herb (rather than an extract) will be less effective.
Only highly concentrated, standardized Ginkgo biloba extracts are effective. Vitals' Ginkgo biloba-PS tablet contains 480 mg of the branded ingredient Virtiva®, which consists of 120 mg Ginkgo biloba extract (of which 24 mg flavone glycosides and 6 mg terpene lactones) and 360 mg lecithin (of which 55 mg phosphatidylserine). This ratio of flavone glycosides to terpene lactones (24/6) is the most commonly used in scientific research with Ginkgo biloba.

Composition of Vitals Ginkgo Biloba-PS:
Each tablet (= daily dosage) contains:Virtiva® (Ginkgo biloba-extract and lecithin) 480 mg
of which:
- Ginkgo biloba-extract 120 mg
- Ginkgoflavonglycosiden 24 mg
- Ginkgo terpene lactone 6 mg
- Fosfatidylserine 55 mg
Virtiva® is a combination of Ginkgo biloba extract and phospholipids from lecithin, produced using Phytosome® technology. Virtiva® and Phytosome® are registered trademarks of Indena SpA, Italy.
Ingredients of Vitals Ginkgo Biloba-PS:
Emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), bulking agents (microcrystalline cellulose [cellulose gel], rice bran extract), Ginkgo biloba extract (Ginkgo biloba, leaf), anti-caking agents (rice fibre, silicon dioxide), thickener (hydroxypropyl cellulose), stabiliser (stearic acid).This product is free from: Gluten, lactose, soy, preservatives, and synthetic fragrances, colors, and flavors. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Usage of Vitals Ginkgo Biloba-PS:
Take 1 tablet per day, unless otherwise advised by your health professional.Preferably take during a meal with sufficient water.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Let op:
May affect the effectiveness of anticoagulants. Due to its blood-thinning effect, it is recommended to avoid using ginkgo extract for two weeks before or after surgery.
Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
