The borage flower (Borago officinalis), also called borage or cucumber herb, is a well-known culinary herb with blue flowers, native to the countries around the Mediterranean and spread throughout Europe and North America over the centuries.Borage oil is the richest natural source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This is a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid that is rarely found in food. The body can, in principle, produce GLA itself from (cis)linoleic acid. However, in situations where there is an increased need, it may be beneficial to supplement the diet with a GLA supplement. Factors that can play a role in this include excessive consumption of trans fatty acids, saturated fats, sugar, alcohol, and carbohydrates.

Each softgel (= daily dosage) contains:Borage oil (from organically grown borage seeds) 500 mg
- of which Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) 100 mg
