NourSea contains Calanus oil, a natural, unprocessed oil derived from Calanus finmarchicus. This zooplankton, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, is low in the food chain and harvested in the cleaner North Atlantic Ocean. Therefore, NourSea Calanus oil is naturally very pure.Good for the heart
NourSea contains a unique blend of omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and SDA (stearidonic acid). EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function with a daily intake of 250 mg.
Broader effect due to wax esters
Calanus oil comes in the special omega-3 form of wax esters. These are slow-release, allowing them to be distributed further down the intestines. This gives Calanus oil additional, specific beneficial properties, in addition to the well-known health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, which are absent or less present in conventional fish oil or krill oil.
Ecologically responsible & sustainably harvested
Calanus finmarchicus has a high biomass of approximately 300 million tons and reproduces very rapidly. Approximately 165,000 tons of Calanus are harvested annually. The Norwegian government has set a maximum catch limit of 30 million tons per year. This allows for sustainable harvesting of this enormous biomass and prevents overfishing. Fishermen harvest Calanus finmarchicus as a sideline, so there's no unnecessary bycatch!
