Laves
Laves is a family-owned business founded in 1908 by Prof. Dr. Ernst Laves in Hannover. Initially, the company focused on the production of Lecin, a mineral milk protein preparation that became popular during the First World War due to food scarcity. After the death of Prof. Dr. Laves in 1927, his son, Dr. Wolfgang Laves, took over the company. Under his leadership, new bacterial preparations such as Colibiogen® and Colivit were introduced. The Second World War caused significant damage, including the destruction of factories. After the war, production resumed in Neustadt am Rübenberge. Despite these setbacks, the company grew, employing over 250 workers by 1947.

In the 1960s, the factory returned to Hannover, and in 1979, the headquarters moved to Empelde, just outside Hannover, to meet the demands of modern pharmaceutical production. The company's revenue grew significantly in the 1970s, partly due to the establishment of a sales team and expansion into markets in the Far East. In the 1990s, Laves expanded internationally with a new production facility in Switzerland in 1998. Laves remained family-owned, with Hans-Georg Laves as the managing director until his death in 2002, after which his sons continued to lead the company in the fourth generation. In the 21st century, Laves continues to evolve with new business activities and expansions of production facilities. The headquarters in Empelde was expanded and modernized, while production in Switzerland was upgraded to the latest pharmaceutical technology in 2017. Laves remains a leading company in the pharmaceutical sector, with a strong focus on innovation, quality, and global growth. The goal remains consistent over the years: "Providing sustainable support for the body's own immune system with the highest quality."
