Solgar's history began in Manhattan, New York in 1947. Pharmacists Nat Colby and Mike Goldfarb, together with holistic physician Carl Zoll, started the Solgar Vitamin & Herb company from their shared passion for the preventive effect of natural supplements.The first Solgar product was sold in a pharmacy in Manhattan; Naturvite, a powdered multi-vitamin. After three years, Colby goes on alone and meets Allen Skolnick, a young biochemist.
