De Cruydhof is a small family business founded in 1934 by naturopath W. C. Smits. In his hometown of Balkbrug, Willem Smits and his wife Anneke cultivated a nature-friendly garden. Mr. Smits was an active herbal grower and treated people with herbal teas that he personally formulated. But herbs were not the only thing he was passionate about — he also strongly emphasized the importance of healthy nutrition. To this day, the herbal tinctures, herbal blends, and balms are still made based on his original recipes.
